Achievements on Women Development Department

  • Empowerment of 107 indigent women at Ifedayo LGA and environs (World Bank sponsored, 31st August 2023).
  • Advocacy visit to 31 LG councils (69 LCDAs) on resuscitation of defunct women development unit.
  • Awareness/Sensitization campaign on girl child education in Ifedayo, Olaoluwa, Atakunmosa East.
  • Distribution of palliatives to widows and orphanage homes.
  • Sponsorship of delegates to the 68th UNCSW session (11th–22nd March 2024, New York, USA).
  • Participation in UNCSW 68th session (17th–29th March 2024, New York, USA).
  • Distribution of grinding machines, generators, deep freezers to empower indigent women across LGs.

Achievements on Gender Affairs Department

The Department of Gender Affairs was established on 29th October 2023. Key successes include:

  • Establishment of Gender Department within the Ministry of Women Affairs, Children and Social Welfare.
  • 16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence (25th November – 10th December 2023).
  • International Day of Zero Tolerance to Female Genital Mutilation (FGM) observed with advocacy and education.
  • COVID-19 Preparedness and Response Project (COPREP) implemented to strengthen health readiness.

Achievements on Child Development Department

Objective: Promote welfare, protection, survival, and development of children in line with Child Rights Law and international conventions.

  • 2022 Children End of Year Party: Organized with the First Lady as Chief Hostess, attended by 2000+ children statewide.
  • 2023 National Children’s Day Celebration: Theme: “Proper Parenting for Value Reorientation and National Consciousness.” Held at Osogbo City Stadium with 200+ schools participating.
  • 2023 Children End of Year Party
  • 2024 National Children’s Day Celebration: Theme: “Enhancing the Total Wellbeing of the Nigerian Child through Quality Education and Skill Development.” Sub-theme: “Vocational Skills Development as Essential Education.”
  • Participation at the 67th UNCSW session (6th–17th March 2023, New York, USA). Theme: “Innovation and Technological Change and Education in the Digital Age for Gender Equality.”

Achievements on Social Welfare Department

  • Prompt release of funds for feeding of special children, children in need of care/protection, and children in conflict with the law.
  • Funding of education for children in Government Children Home, Correctional Centre, and Child Care Unit.
  • Release of funds for medical needs of children in unfortunate circumstances.
  • Sponsorship of five street children at Borstal Training Institution, Abeokuta for educational and vocational training.
  • Regular payment of sitting allowances for Family Court Assessors to ensure smooth court operations and promote child welfare.
