ACHIEVEMENTS OF MR. GOVERNOR, HIS EXCELLENCY, SENATOR DR. ADEMOLA JACKSON NURUDEEN ADELEKE IN THE STATE EDUCATION SECTOR
  • Engagement of Peace Corps to inculcate discipline in our schools. In a bid to ensure conducive learning environment in our schools, Osun state government through ministry of Education employed 200 Peace Corps to man our schools and their engagement has led to reduction in social vices such as Cultism, hooliganism and absenteeism in our schools.
  • Osun is the only state in Nigeria still operating home-grown feeding. Nigeria as a federating state is comprised of 36 states and one of cardinal programs of the present administration is the sustenance of home-grown feeding of pupils in our schools despite paucity of fund confronting our dear state. This intervention has greatly reduced number of out of school children.
  • Osun State Education ranked among the best ten states in Nigeria and only state in the entire south western states of the country.
  • Re-introduction and training of guidance and counsellors in our schools: Several years ago, as a result of retrenchment of school counsellors in all public secondary schools in Osun state, Guidance and Counselling unit became moribund, neglected and no longer functional and needs to be revived to start working again. The present administration approved restructuring of Guidance and Counselling unit in all public secondary schools in the state and sponsored training program for the school counsellors.
  • Continuous training of item writers and Principals/Head teachers and Registrars of all primary and secondary Schools in the State.
  • Construction and renovation of classroom blocks across the public secondary and primary schools in the State.
  • Supply of furniture across Secondary and Primary Schools in the State.
  • Distribution of Instructional Materials to all secondary schools in the State.
  • Distribution of Meteorological equipment to pilot senior secondary schools in Osun State.
  • Distribution of firefighting equipment to pilot senior secondary schools in Osun State.
  • Drilling and reticulation of borehole in selected Primary and Junior Secondary schools in the State.
  • Sponsoring of ‘Imole Lagbo Eto Eko’ a programme sensitizing the masses on the activities of Government on Education.
  • Osun Imole Eye Health Programme initiated by Osun State Health Insurance Scheme (OHIS) in collaboration with the Ministry of Education – Free Glasses Distribution, drugs and Eye Surgery for 42,000 students of public primary and secondary schools in the State.
  • The introduction of Imole War against Drug Abuse (IWADA) programme has significantly reduced drug abuse among secondary school students.
  • Sponsorship of Osun State National Sewing Championship 2025, South West Geopolitical zone while Osun State won an award.
  • Solar lanterns/lamps were distributed to many SSS 3 students who were writing external examination in the State via the Earth Carbon Footprint Reduction Scheme.
  • Promotion of Mother Tongue Language, Egbe Akomolede
  • Routers were distributed to some public secondary schools and private secondary schools in the State.
  • Inauguration of Board of Governors for each Public Senior Secondary School and Technical Colleges in Osun State. In September, Osun state came first in Physics competition held in Port Harcourt, Rivers state.
  • Annual Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) Projects Exhibition by Senior Secondary Schools and Technical Colleges students in Osun State in July 2025.
  • Osun state represented the continent of Africa in Dales, USA in AI this year May having come first in Dakar last year.
  • President Schools Debate Nigeria and World School Debate Competition Team, Osun earned the State of honour and represented Nigeria at the 2024 World Schools Debate Championship in Malaysia, where the Osun State team went on to win first place, bringing global recognition to Nigeria. The four students (three public secondary schools and one private secondary school) from Osun State who represented the country were given cash award of Two Million naira each and scholarship at their undergraduate level.
  • Payment of 2023 Financial Assistance to the students of Nigerian Law School, Bar II (2022/2023), who completed their studies in April, 2024.
  • Approval of Mr. Governor to engage two hundred and thirty (230) temporary staff inherited from the defunct College of Education, Ilesa to permanent staff at the University of Ilesa.
  • Erection of Laboratory at the Environmental Health Department at Osun State College of Health Technology and Management Sciences, Ilesa.
  • Completion of Blocks of classrooms with offices in various departments at Osun State College of Technology, Esa-Oke.
  • Construction of roads within the campus of University of Ilesa and Osun State University, Osogbo.
  • Construction of Isiaka Adeleke Anatomy complex at Osun State University, Osogbo.
  • Release of fund by His Excellency, Senator Ademola Nurudeen Jackson Adeleke for the construction and official commissioning of the first (1st) students’ hostels at University of Ilesa.
  • Renovation, upgrade and expansion of lecture halls and laboratories across all campuses.
  • Commencement of payment of outstanding cooperative deductions in Osun State College of Technogy, Esa-Oke.
  • Repair of Esa-Oke water scheme by the State Government.
  • Ongoing upgrade and redesign of the websites of our Tertiary Institutions to enhance users’ experience and functionality.
  • Introduction of tuition-fee free for programmes in Faculties of Education and Agriculture in University of Ilesa to enhance more graduate teachers in the state and more Agricultural expert in our state.
  • Procurement of dispensing Opticianry equipment for Osun State College of Health Technology Ilesa.
  • Osun State Government under the leadership of Chief Asiwaju (Dr.) Senator Ademola Nurudeen Jackson Adeleke sponsored Osun State contingencies to the computer based Physics competition at Nigerian Institute of physics 46th Annual conference and Brought honour to the state by winning first position at the National event held in Rivers state University, Port-Harcourt on Monday 12th May, 2025.
  • Recruitment of Teachers and Education Officers into public primary, secondary and Technical schools in Osun State.
STATE UNIVERSAL BASIC EDUCATION BOARD.

Going forward through the years 2023,2024, 2025, and 1st quarter of year 2026, the execution of the Action Plans delivered the underlisted Projects/ Programmes /Activities into our school system :

  • Payment of State Counterpart Funds to UBEC for years 2019,2020,2021,2022,2023,2024 and 2025 which enable the state to access the schools improvements Interventions due to Osun State from UNEC Abuja
  • Construction and refurbishing of 755 classrooms in 254 schools the state basic schools
  • Supplies of over 24,700 sets of furniture items distributed to Basic schools across the state for learners and teachers, Era of learners carrying furniture to schools is no more
  • Provision of ICT materials and Solar Systems to 27 Basic schools across the state geo political zone to Improve digital literacy education
  • Supplies of 1432 Tablets for teachers and learners’ attendance monitoring in primary schools
  • Support for development of Sports & Games in Basic Schools – Basic Education Schools Sport , BESS, Competition held 3 times consecutively in the last 3 years.
  • Development of Agriculture Farms in schools through AETP programmes and greenish school Environment
  • Provision of water Boreholes with reticulation & alternative power supply (Generators ) in 47 Schools which equally benefits the host communities
  • Construction of Toilets in 24 Basic schools
  • School fencing, Erection of Perimeter Fence with metal gates in 43 schools covering 11,844 Meters
  • Support of Conduct of School Census Annually using “osun–emis applications”
  • Continuous Education Quality Assurance operation are carried out on termly basis which put Tutors and all education administrators on right course in the delivery of quality education following standardized practices
  • Staff Trainings : Training of over 6500 School Heads & Teachers to upgrade quality were given priority attention; this cut across all fields of studies in Basic schools ( Primary & JSS schools ) . All other Categories of staff connected with subeb had in-service trainings related to their jobs for enhancement of services.
  • Teacher’s welfare: All workers remuneration including teachers were given unprecedented welfare packages , promotions with the implementation of Osun State minimum wages effective December 2024.
  • Preferential treatment were given to special schools both in provision of learning materials aids , feeding and remuneration of persons with special needs in all our special schools in Osun State – which is still continuing to date .
  • Annual Distribution of TLMs to Basic Schools— 60 leaves Exercise Books , 80Leaves Higher Education Notebook, Pencils ,Rulers , Diaries and chalks/ markers, Attendance register, etc.
  • Procurement of 8 Vehicles for Continuous Quality Assurance CQA Assessment and Projects Monitoring
  • Procurement of 12 Motorbike for school CQA Monitoring Officers at LGEAs
  • Operationalized the newly introduced Basic Education Curriculum 2025 , in compliance with FME directive and to drive the best practices in our school system.
  • Operationalized the two Established special package schools including UBEC Model Smart school Osogbo which is driven by Tech Teaching packages and Alternative High School for Girls , Osogbo aimed at addressing out-of-schools and drop-out children. We are looking forward to replicate same in other educational zones of the state .
  • Our pregnant packages to address the shortage of teachers in schools has been successfully given birth to in march 2026, over 600 new teachers have been recruited and deployed to basic schools. More staffing gap in Basic Education subsector will be filled in no distant time.

  • Conversion of State General Hospital to University of Ilesa Teaching Hospital
  • Establishment of Centres: Transport and Logistics, Chinese Studies, Technical and Vocational Excellence
  • Equipping the University Library with books, journals, e-resources, and solar power
